Sele Raya – Satuan Kerja Khusus Pelaksana Kegiatan Usaha Hulu Minyak dan Gas Bumi (SKK Migas) has announced encouraging news regarding the accelerated production of the South Anggur-2 (SAS-2) exploration well, operated by PT Sele Raya Belida under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC). The well officially commenced production (onstream) on 28 November 2025—three days ahead of the original target date of 1 December 2025.

The Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, reported on Wednesday (3 December 2025) that the SAS-2 well is currently producing steadily at 1,500 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 1.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD).

Although production testing indicated the well’s potential to reach up to 4,000 BOPD, SKK Migas has decided to maintain output at an optimal rate of 1,500 BOPD.

“To prevent rapid water coning and potential blockages in the perforation intervals, the SAS-2 well is being produced at an optimal rate,” said Djoko Siswanto. This controlled production strategy is part of a conservation measure to safeguard the well’s longevity and ensure sustainable long-term output.

The accelerated onstream achievement was supported by exceptional efficiency in regulatory approvals and facility development. SKK Migas highlighted four key areas of acceleration:

  • Expedited approval of the Exploration Completion Report (PSE)
  • Accelerated construction of production facilities
  • Completion of UKL-UPL (Environmental Management and Monitoring Efforts) approval within two weeks
  • Approval of the Phase I Plan of Development (POD) within two weeks
These streamlined processes enabled immediate monetization of the well, delivering an instant contribution to increased production from the SAS Field.

Looking ahead, the development of the SAS Field will focus on the Synrift Play concept sourced from the Talang Akar Formation, as part of ongoing efforts to unlock additional reserve potential.

SKK Migas plans to conduct further drilling activities in 2026 and remains optimistic that the SAS Field will continue to make a significant contribution toward achieving Indonesia’s national oil and gas production targets.
